Big fun from the Drummer’s Throne-Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2008

What a Summer - very busy and tons of fun. The past two months have seen us at the vineyards, downtown Port Jeff, the Nautical Mile in Freeport and Cupsougue Beach - West Hampton. Lots of new friends, singing and dancing.

Just a few highlights include several gigs at the Beach Hut in West Hampton. These were my type of gig… beautiful sunsets and quick dips in the ocean during our set breaks. One night we had the entire Beach Hut staff singing along on the band stand as we wound down the night. We had a bunch of great days at the North Fork vineyards including lots of fun at Osprey Dominion, Jamesport, Bedell Vineyard 48 and Corey Creek with plenty of dancing, parties and picnics. We had lots of people sign the email list and show up at a bunch of different gigs. September 08 marked our first trio gig at Vineyard 48. It was a blast and we will be back several times through the Fall. We also had the opportunity to perform in several concert settings in the late Summer including a gig for the Freeport Arts Council right on the Nautical mile in Freeport. It was a beautiful night with a really diverse audience. We hope to be back again next year.

The calendar is full right through the Fall so I hope to see you out there.

Big fun From the Drummer’s Throne - July 9th, 2008

The last few weeks have been pretty full tilt with lots of great gigs. Plenty of dancing, singing and a few new tunes too!

On June 8th we set to the high seas playing a private party that sailed out of NYC’s Chelsea pier around Manhattan. Anyone that knows me knows I love to play gigs on boats and at the beach. Preferably barefoot! Mike posted some pictures of the sail on the website. On June 14th we played our first gig at Pindar vineyards and what a nice set up they have. We had the deck dancing and singin to “Julio” & “Love the one your with” to mention just a few. Pindar has asked us back and we have been booked for their Fall Harvest festival at their sister vineyard Duckwalk. The weekend of June 27 found us back at a crowded Ruvo on Friday night in Port Jeff and on Saturday, we were back at Jamesport vineyards for a hot but fun filled afternoon… a few wild bachelorette parties and one full tilt conga line made the day a blast. Last night (July 8) was our first gig at the Cupsougue beach Beach Hut restaurant. I set my drum kit up, took a quick dip and joined Mike and Scott on the band stand. We played through a beautiful sunset with new and old friends dancing on the deck.

We are goin full tilt now so see ya at a gig near you. Surfs up!

Big fun From the Drummer’s Throne - May 28th, 2008

The last few weeks have ramped up towards our summer schedule. We played a very fun "welcome back from Paris Scotty" gig at Ruvo East in Port Jeff with a great crowd and new tunes on May 16th. Keep an eye on that Ricky guy behind the bar!

On the 17th we played our first gig at Duck Walk vineyard. The patio was filled on a beautiful day with hawks and Ospreys circling above. Many new friends and people singing along. The employee's at Duck Walk were really pleased (we will be back). The memorable phrase of the day was "follow the bouncing bass player". This past weekend officially started the new season with Memorial Day weekend. BIG FUN playing right on the water at the Venetian Shores Beach Hut in Lindenhurst. The weather broke and we enjoyed a very nice evening playing on the deck.

On Sunday May 25th we played a private party in Aqueboque. As Mike and I pulled in to unload, we introduced ourselves to our host Wit (short for Whitfield). Wit promptly asked "where are your wives and families? Get em over here!" By 3:45 we were playing right on the water's edge at a gorgeous place in Aquebogue. By 5 PM Renee, Janet and Diane (our wives) and Antonio (my 18 month old son) were there. People danced, sang, ate, drank, told jokes and took boat rides. Lots of beautiful kids checking out the drum kit. We walked away after playing a great gig with a bunch of new friends... This is what it's all about. Thanks Doug M. for hooking us up. Hope this party is an annual?

Well 'til next time..... remember to put the lime in the coconut and ... come see the trio!

Big fun from the drummer’s throne… April 24, 2008

Well last week brought the trio back from a few week hiatus. Some new tunes were on the set list including the Eagles’ new one “How Long?,” Jimmy Buffet’s “Changes in Latitude,” and the Beatles’ “Little Help from My Friends.” A packed house at Ruvo in PJ was big fun with some new faces and some old friends. Our first gig at Osprey’s Dominion vineyard on Saturday was a real blast. Great weather and people just hung out all afternoon. We even had our first break dancer on Scott’s version of “Sunshine Superman.” It was groooovin! Scotty’s off to Paris then we get real busy as the season progresses. I got Mike working on Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay,” and Scotty working on Jimmy Cliffs “Sittin here in Limbo.” What do ya think?
